Way to go Clint!
It's nice to see that a custom furniture maker is on mainstream television. Were starting to see more interest in the subject right now with shows like 'Framework' and 'Ellen's design challenge' on HGTV.
For me, this just goes to show that there's something about having wood in our lives that's uniquely desirable. I like to think of it as an evolutionary thing but then I'm weird like that.
There is another benefit to having a forerunner like Clint. He'll attract an audience and we (as furniture makers) can analyse that to establish our own target audiences.
What do you think?
Last night I enjoyed my first meeting with the guys and gals of the San Fernando Valley Woodworkers club. I can honestly say that I was amongst friends! I don't think that in recent years I've had the pleasure to have been amongst such a funny, giving, warm friendly and funny (wait, did I say that twice) group of people...
I met Steve Sampietro in a grocery store; he noticed my Mark Newton Custom Woodcraft t-shirt and introduced himself. He told me all about the club and honestly, It was exactly what I needed, a chance to meet some guys with a similar passion for woodcraft...
Thanks for that one Steve.....
I'll definitely be joining and I cant wait to be there next month...
Meetings are well organised and include:
A Q&A on anything members want to ask about
Information about local wood work related swap meets and events
Competitions, prizes, Raffles, more prizes
A show and tell where members get to bring in their work and talk about it
There's even an 'Annual Toy Build' where literally hundreds of wooden toys are made for under privileged children. WOW!
Ultimately, it's just a great way to go hang out with the guys and talk about woodworking which, lets be honest, we love to do and our wives love to have us do SOMEWHERE ELSE Right?
