How to get a price for a custom furniture commission?
Imagine if we were to guess a price for something before WE know how much it will cost to make?
That's the tricky part of a custom furniture commission
Normally when you buy a company's product... They know how much it costs to produce and can give you a price immediately and for free because it doesn't cost them anything to give you that information.
A custom commission isn't like that.
Meeting you to discuss your project - Drafting a design - Contacting vendors - Making and providing samples - Custom color chips - Comparing different options.
We do a lot to get to the point where we know what it'll take to turn a concept into a finished piece of furniture.
So here's what we offer. Step 1 - The CONSULTATION
We don't have a showroom just a very dusty wood shop so we come to you.
Whether at your home, a place of work, over coffee at a local starbucks or over the phone, we'll sit and discuss your idea for a piece of furniture.
Let us know what you are most comfortable with and we'll meet you there.
At that point we'll explain the process and happily answer any remaining questions. Everything we do is custom. one project at a time for one client at a time so no inventory to show you, that's just how we work.
THE ESTIMATE (just $150)
For us to be able to work out a price, we need 4 pieces of information:
1. THE CONCEPT (which forms the basis for...) 2. THE DESIGN (from which we can figure out...) 3. WHAT MATERIALS & HARDWARE WILL BE NEEDED TO BUILD IT (and knowing what we have to do to turn those materials into a product we can then figure out...) 4. HOW MUCH TIME (labor) IT WILL TAKE US TO DO SO (which will give us the information needed to add up... a PRICE)
That's why there's a $150 fee for a price (cheep huh?)
If you'd like us to work out a price, we'll do the research, provide samples, contact suppliers, gather information and get that price to you as soon as possible.
If you agree to our price and you're happy to go ahead, we'll take your ORDER.
Next, the SCHEDULE
At that point, with an order in hand, we can order supplies and we'll know roughly how long it'll take to get other projects out of the way and set up the wood shop for your project.
With a plan, design and materials in hand, it's time to get to work.
Once your project is complete, we'll be able to deliver it to you, arrange delivery via a shipping or freight company or if you prefer, you can collect it.
